Session Description:
Genetic toxicology assessment of drug candidates is an essential component of preclinical development. As per ICH S2(R1), two in vitro and one in vivo assays are required to assess the genotoxic potential of the drug candidate. Although in vivo assay results weigh more heavily than in vitro data in this assessment, when a drug candidate unexpectedly tests positive in an in vitro assay, uncertainty overshadows the program. This session will provide information on how these roadblocks can be overcome by conducting additional, in vivo assays to take the molecule to the next stage.
