Pharmacokinetic Studies

Pharmacokinetics (PK) include the study of the mechanisms of absorption and distribution of an administered drug, the rate at which a drug action begins and the duration of the effect, the chemical changes of the substance in the body (e.g., by enzymes) and the effects and routes of excretion of the metabolites of the drug. Pharmacokinetic (PK) studies are often employed at the discovery or candidate selection stages of a development program.

In addition to a skilled and experienced staff, Frontage can provide PK studies using rodent, canine or NHP populations and single, multiple or cassette dosing, as well as all routes of administration, including IP, IV, PO, SC, etc. We do so through partnerships with Calvert Laboratories, Inc. and several collaborations in China. We can also help with pre-formulation development, food effect, metabolite profiling, bioavailability and bioequivalence studies.

Deliverables include AUC 0-t, AUCinf, AUC/AUCinf, Cmax, Tmax, kel and t½.
