Position Summary

Highly motivated, time flexible, in vivo laboratory scientist to prepare for, schedule, and conduct discovery pharmacokinetic studies and mass balance studies. Catheter implant surgical skills to augment procedures in the collection of bio-fluid samples is desired. This person will prepare samples for analysis and subsequent reporting. This position will include some laboratory animal care and husbandry and some weekend and after hours time. Familiarity with Culex is a plus.


  • Provide laboratory animal care and husbandry, including caging, cleaning/sanitation of the facility, and organization of supplies. Conduct surgery, post-operative care and veterinary program consultation
  • Perform catheter implant surgical procedures to aid in the collection of bio-fluid samples
  • Handle equipment labeling, maintenance and monitoring
  • Conduct automated blood sampling setup procedures and studies
  • Perform study monitoring, dosing, and sampling
  • Conduct ADME studies using radiolabeled compounds
  • Prepare all documentation and reports, including writing of SOPs and protocol review
  • Provide updates, resolve any unexpected issues, and ensure agreed-upon timelines
  • Assist in mentoring and training other colleagues


  • Minimum AS in Biology, Animal Science or related discipline. Minimum 4 years’ experience working in research-based animal facilities and in handling live, small animals
  • Understanding of IACUC-related concepts and familiarity with AAALAC and animal welfare act regulations guidelines
  • AALAS certification at LAT or above preferred
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs., walk or stand majority of day, and work with radiolabeled isotopes
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills Exhibit a sense of urgency and some flexibility in work day schedule
  • Capability to prioritize based on a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Demonstrated time management skill
